First of many ports (I hope)

After our time at Rainier, we chugged on down the road to Port Angeles for 5 days.  May I add as a side not that the drive up 101 along the coast is gorgeous!!! I don't think I'll ever tire of looking at the ocean.  :)s
Port Angeles is a small town but with a lot to do.  We stayed for 5 days but wished we would have stayed for at least a week.  We originally thought we were staying because it is close to Olympic National Park but the smoke from the BC fires made visiting the park for sight seeing not a good option.  We did do on little hike down to a beach line that is popular with over night campers.  The hike gave us a good idea of the different vegetation seen depending on altitude of the area.  It was beautiful and very rain forest like.
Since there was so much smoke we decided to take advantage of our close proximity to Victoria, BC and took the ferry across the Strait of Juan de fuca to visit.  Victoria is a very pretty city that really caters to tourists.  We spent about 5 hours in the city since we had a 1.5 hour ferry ride each way.  We visited Craigdarroch Castle and the various famous neighborhoods in the city.  We were very surprised at how warm it was.  Port Angeles and Victoria are only 15 miles apart across the strait but the temperature difference was about 15 degrees!
After commenting about how we have gotten away from doing "touristy" things, we decided to go on a whale watching tour.  We had a very successful trip!  :)  We got to see a Humpback whale hunting up close, a little pod of Minke whales and a small pod of Orca!  YAY!  I could watch them all day. LOVE THE WHALES!! :)
As stated before, we had a great time but wished we could have stayed a little bit longer.
