Blue Valley RV Park, Walla Walla, WA

Great location less than a mile from downtown Walla Walla with easy access to the wine country. The park is relatively small with only 60 sites. The sites are all back in and paved with the center section being organized in a back to back configuration. Each site has a picnic table and concrete living area. The sites are a bit close, but there is still enough room to get around your rig and put out awnings. The park has good wifi, cable and a lodge/office building that includes the clean showers and bathrooms. Overall this park was priced right and very convenient, so we give it a 4 out of 5 and will stay here again next year.

Ambassador RV Resort, Caldwell, Idaho

One of the G7 resorts which has locations in Idaho, Washington and Arizona. The park felt new and it was extremely clean and organized. We stopped here for just a single night to break up a long drive. The sites are pull through except for the back in sites around the edge. The sites are gravel, but it is the nice gravel that is thick and packed tight. Each site has a concrete living area with a picnic table and a grass area. There is plenty of space for parking a car, trailer, etc. at the site. They offer a nice pool area with clean showers and restrooms. The wifi worked and the staff at the park was extremely friendly and welcoming. We give this park a 5 out of 5 as the price was reasonable and the amenities were great.

Sun Valley, Idaho

After a nice long stop in Boise to catch up with family and friends, we moved the bus to Ketchum for a week of enjoying all that the Idaho mountains have to offer. As an added bonus, a group of my high school friends decided to meet up with us during that week. I had a great time catching up with the boys and doing a paragliding jump. I would highly recommend trying the paragliding to anyone. It takes your breath away being able to experience the freedom of soaring through the air over some amazing scenery. After the boys went back to work, Danelle and I got in two great hikes. Our first hike was into Alpine Lake, which was a nice little hike into some classic Sawtooth scenery. Our second hike was into Imogene lake, which is a little further and offers some of my favorite views of the entire area. There is also some funny history of Hell Roaring, which we hiked by, where I spent the night camping in a fire pit during a different boys weekend a few years ago. Good times! We also had a chance to catch up with close friends that had a daughter the same age as Taylor. We look forward to spending more time with them next year either in Ketchum or some place on the road. It was great to be back in Ketchum and we are already planning what we want to do here next year.

The Meadows RV Park, Ketchum, Idaho

With no other RV park options in the Sun Valley area, this park is where you will likely end up. The good point is the great location just off US 75 right outside of Ketchum. The highway is maybe two hundred yards away, but there is very little traffic noise. The park has direct access to the bike trail that runs along the river and connects Ketchum, Sun Valley and Elkhorn. Checkin was great as the office texted us our confirmation, map and site location the morning of our arrival. We did not go to the office at all during our stay. The sites, however, are very narrow and you are extremely close to your neighbors. The center section is pull through sites that are asphalt with a grass area and picnic table. There is no opportunity to use the table if you are in a full size RV next to another full size RV. The park has no WiFi. We rate this park a 3 out of 5 due to sites and lack of wifi.

Sitka, Alaska

The last stop on our Alaska tour was the beautiful town of Sitka. Sitka was the capital of the Alaska territory during the Russian ownership period of its history. We toured the Cathedral of Saint Michael, which was the seat of the Russian Orthodox church in Alaska and where Bishop Innocent lived and worked during his time in Alaska. We enjoyed a nice walk through the National Historic Totem Park and a tour of the Alaska Raptor Center where they rehabilitate injured raptors and finally a tour of the Russian Bishop's House which is a National Historic site. The stop in Sitka was gorgeous and relaxing. It was a great way to wrap up our first trip to Alaska.
