Coastal Breeze RV Resort, Corpus Christi, Texas

Coastal Breeze RV is a nice and quiet RV park in the town of Rockport, which is 20 minutes outside of Corpus Christi.  The sites are concrete and very long with a decent amount of space between each site.  The campground is popular with the fishermen in south Texas who use their RVs as a weekend fishing home base.  It is also popular with snowbirds from all over the country.  The majority of the sites are pull through with back in sites arranged around the outside edge of the park.  They have a nice pool area with a good club house, dog park, bath houses and a pier extending into the shallow salt lake adjacent to the park.  There are no beach areas around the lake.  The wifi works, but has daily download limits for their free version.  There are dozens of RV parks in the area, but we would have no problem recommending this one.

Corpus Christi, Texas

We had yet to visit Corpus Christi in our years of exploring Texas, so we added it to the list for this year.  We were hoping Corpus would have some good beaches and weather, but found neither.  The locals were complaining about the amount of wind they had been experiencing and it did not let up while we were there.  Corpus is a working town where most of the recreation revolves around fishing.  We were able to visit the USS Lexington, which I enjoyed, and also a drive out to the Aransas National wildlife preserve.  We decided to cut our stay short and move up the road to Houston.

San Antonio 2022

We pulled into San Antonio, excited to visit the places we had before on our last stop but also eager to see some new things.

Our first day we drove down to see the Riverwalk and were happy to see that it is back to normal.  A lot of people were visiting the shops and restaurants and having a great time.  We took a river boat tour and were sad to hear that San Antonio is only back up to about 1/3 of their normal tour traffic.  Come on, people!  Get out there! It's time to travel again!  :)  After walking around the shops, we decided it was time to visit The Alamo.  Can't forget!  ;)  Such a sacred place.  Afterwards we went to the Tower of the Americas which looks just like the Space Needle in Seattle.  We went up to the top and were treated to views of the city.

The following day we drove out to Natural Arch Caverns.  We have been in a few caves up to now but I think this was one of my favorite.  It is an active cave and has so much water that it even had a lake! The formations were just unbelievable and the colors were gorgeous.  I already want to come back to the area just to visit the cave.  Afterward we drove out to a little shopping district called Gruene.  The best thing about Gruene is it has a dance hall that is believed to be the oldest in the country.  It is still going today.  Acts such as Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, etc... still perform there.   It would be fantastic to see a band play on the tiny stage and see people line dance all night long.

Our last day we drove to Austin to visit the LBJ Presidential Library and Museum.  After visiting the Reagan library a few months ago, this library was a bit underwhelming.  But, we made the best of it and learned as much as we could. My favorite room in the library was Lady Bird's office. Very bright and airy! :)  Now on to Corpus Christi!

White Sands National Park

We successfully made it to Las Cruces this year so we could visit White Sands again to enjoy the amazing gypsum dunes.  We were amazed at how busy the park was on Easter, but were still able to find a good dune to sled down and got in some good barefoot walking through the sand.   No trip to Las Cruces would be complete without a visit to Mesilla.  The historic town was very quiet because of the Easter holiday, but it is still a cool place to walk around.

Silverado RV Park, Eloy, AZ

Silverado RV Park is a conveniently located park in Eloy just off the I-10.  The park very reasonably priced and we use it as an overnight stop when traveling through the area.  The sites are mostly back in, gravel and have the hookups at the very back of the site.  Our site had the hookups on the passenger side.  The park has pickel ball, some putting greens and indoor activity rooms for crafts, poker, etc.
