Glacier National Park, Montana
After missing out on Glacier National Park two years ago due to the fires, we were determined to get it back on the schedule and to enjoy all that the park has to offer. We started out with a hike to Iceberg Lake, which is a nice 10 mile hike that ends at a fantastic lake surrounded by ice pack. For the majority of the season there are large pieces of ice that float around the lake, but we were here so late that none were floating. Next trip I plan to be here earlier so that I can swim out to an iceberg and jump off it into the lake, as that is the time honored tradition. While exploring the area around the park, we saw several river rafting companies shuttling people to their raft destinations. We decided to do a little white water rafting and scheduled a day trip on the Flathead River. We had a relaxing rain day and then hiked into Avalanche Lake for some more amazing views. Our final adventure was an easy hike into Hidden Lake from Logan Pass. I think I enjoyed the scenery on the final hike the most. One of the best things about moving around the country is our ability to meet up with our friends that live in all of these fantastic locations. Glacier was no exception where we had a nice dinner with a long time friend of the family. Thanks, Jann!
We thoroughly enjoyed Glacier and plan to be back earlier in the season for bigger white water and more hiking.
