Sitka, Alaska

The last stop on our Alaska tour was the beautiful town of Sitka. Sitka was the capital of the Alaska territory during the Russian ownership period of its history. We toured the Cathedral of Saint Michael, which was the seat of the Russian Orthodox church in Alaska and where Bishop Innocent lived and worked during his time in Alaska. We enjoyed a nice walk through the National Historic Totem Park and a tour of the Alaska Raptor Center where they rehabilitate injured raptors and finally a tour of the Russian Bishop's House which is a National Historic site. The stop in Sitka was gorgeous and relaxing. It was a great way to wrap up our first trip to Alaska.
