ABQ, aka The Balloon Fiesta!!

When we went to Albuquerque in February this year it was COLD (haha!) but actually we also learned so much about the Balloon Fiesta that we knew we had to go back to see it.  We LOVED it!!  We hope to go back for at least the next few years.  Not knowing the exact schedule in advance we didn't know we should have stayed for the Special Shapes Rodeo but we did see a lot of the special shapes anyway.  In fact, we were asked to help the balloon crew and pilot on a special shape balloon that was a cute, blue chicken!  :)  We learned a lot about balloons in general and how the fiesta works.  I recommend the balloon fiesta to everyone.  You think that it's just a bunch of balloons but words cannot describe and pictures just don't do it justice.  They have a "Dawn Patrol" that is a few balloons that go up pre sunrise to test the winds for the rest of the balloons.  They have the "mass ascension" which is when they all launch starting at 7am and they also have the "Night Glow" which is when the balloons light up at night but don't actually launch.
We loved being back in ABQ.  It was kind of fun to go back to a city we have visited already.  It was difficult to do much since we were getting up at 4am every morning to get to the balloons but we did visit the Unser Museum which was a special treat when we saw Al Unser Sr!  We will go back for sure! Lastly, we went back to a very yummy restaurant called, "High Noon" which was one of the restaurants we visited on our food tour in February.  It was just as good as I remembered!
