One thing we were really excited about was to be able to see a show at the Grand Ole Opry. It was so fun to get our boots on to do some stomping. We had a fantastic time clapping along to the artists who have been long time members all the way up to ones that haven't been invited yet. It was very cool to think that the entire thing was being broadcasted around the world. Truly amazing.
Gary isn't great about marking holidays while making the RV route in January. This year I saw the proposed route before plans were finalized and I changed some days so we could spend 4th of July in the city. ;) The whole day worked out even better because our brother in law introduced us to his friend, Adam Levine......no, not THAT Adam Levine. :D This one did not have a single tattoo. But he does have a restaurant and rooftop bar in downtown Nashville. After having dinner together, he comped us tickets to his rooftop party on the 4th so we could watch the fireworks show that the city hosts. This year's show was the longest they've had, clocked at 31 minutes! It was absolutely phenomenal!
Nashville, like the rest of the country was extremely hot. We spent a lot of time finding things to do inside. We took a tour of Studio B which recorded such acts as Elvis and is still used today. We also toured the Country Music Hall of Fame.
We did 2 house tours. One was Andrew Jackson's home that he retired to after his presidency. The other house was called Belmont Mansion and it was a big surprise for us. We'd never heard of it or its occupants. The family were the equivalent of today's billionaires. Their house had some amazing artwork from around the world. Well worth a tour if you are ever in Nashville. A ton of history in these two houses.
Nashville, we will be back!
