HOUSTON WE HAD NO PROBLEMS

Since Corpus wasn't what we were expecting and the winds were threatening to blow me over wherever we went, we decided to leave a day early.  We drove on down the road to a great, little community called Lake Conroe, which is just outside of Houston. We were so excited to get out of the wind!

Of course when you are with an engineer the first thing you do in Houston is go to NASA.  :)  Gary was super excited to get inside and "get his Geek on".  We toured the inside and then took a tram out to the warehouse that housed the GINORMOUS rocket and capsule.  One tip from me is if you are going to go, read "The Astronaut Wives Club". It's a great book and it humanizes the astronauts you will read about at NASA.  Afterward we drove to downtown Houston to see Water Wall Park. It's a very cool water  feature that is literally a wall of water.  When you walk into the very center of the wall, you do tend to get a little bit of vertigo so be careful.  :D  We also took some time to walk around the beautiful campus of Rice University.

One of our favorite things about doing this RV thing is being able to meet up with friends along the way.  We have some friends in this area that are native Texans and we were able to meet up for an afternoon of drinks on the lake and dinner.  Danny and Johnna, we loved seeing you guys again! Let's not wait so long to see each other again!

We flew home to Boise over the weekend to go to a wedding so it was nice to be in B Town again, even if it was for only 36 hours.  I got to see my parents, we got to witness a beautiful wedding and see some friends.  Congratulations Terry and Kirsten!

We got back from Boise and went back into tourist mode.  We went to an Astros game.  This year is the 60th anniversary of the Astros baseball team which also coincides with the opening of NASA in Houston.  As a result, a lot of the crowd were in Space City jerseys and the team had on Space City uniforms.  It was a great game and the home team won which extends our new streak to 2-0 for when we go to a game and the home team wins.  :D

Lastly we went to the George HW Bush library.  It had cool things in there from his days of being a Naval Aviator.  All in all, it was a pretty informative museum with some fun, interactive things.

On to Waco!
