Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Our journey leading back to the western side of our country allowed us a stop in our adopted home town of Sioux Falls. We use a mail service here in town, Dakota Post, which also gives us drivers licenses and plates for our cars from the great state of South Dakota. The last 6 weeks in the midwest have been very wet. Our drive time has given us a sobering perspective about how much water this area of the country has received this year and South Dakota is no exception. Many fields are still under water and there are frequent road closures as the river banks cannot hold the volume of water moving down stream. We were only in the area for a couple of days, but we did get a chance to visit Falls Park, which was roaring with the amount of water and then we drove out to visit the Corn Palace. The Corn Palace is a building where they cover the outside in murals made from corn. They raise 12 different shades/colors of corn in the area that they use for the murals. The murals were interesting and it is worth getting off I-90 to check it out for an hour. Danelle wanted to shop at a Duluth Trading Post and we found one in downtown. We also found a great wine bar in downtown Sioux Falls later that night which gave us a chance to wind down from the excitement of the Corn Palace. We move 6 hours closer to a burger and schooner at Grumpy's and meet up with good friends in Rapid City!
