Nashville, Tennessee

After a great stop in Louisville, we continued south a few miles to Nashville. We already had a great stop in Tennessee earlier in our trip on the eastern side of the state, so we were excited to be around the locals and soak up the country music scene. Making our stop even better, friends from Boise decided to meet us in Nashville for the duration of our stay. Nashville did not disappoint. We ran out of time to go to all of the sights and it would take years to even scratch the surface of the music scene. After a long night going bar to bar on Broadway, we decided to take a side trip out to Franklin to visit the historic Civil War battle site and plantations. The battle was one of the worst defeats for the Confederate army where they had 6 generals killed in the single day of fighting. The next day we went to the Johnny Cash museum as well as the Patsy Cline museum and finished our day off with a few hours at the Country Music Hall of Fame. We learned a lot about the stars and history behind country music. We ended the day back on Broadway for a few cocktails and great music with our friends. We decided to take a break from downtown Nashville and drove out to the Jack Daniels distillery for a tour. The history behind JD and how they make their whiskey was very interesting. I would highly recommend stopping in Lynchburg for the tour and tasting. Our final day was spent visiting the Corvette museum and factory in Bowling Green and a tour of the Grand Ole Opry. Nashville was a great stop and we are already planning our return visit.
