Lake Tahoe

We had heard so much about Lake Tahoe over the years from friends and the ski community that we were excited to see it for ourselves. Tahoe does not disappoint when it comes to the raw natural beauty of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Unfortunately, our stay here fell during the Memorial Day holiday, so we had what felt like the majority of the California population also visiting the area. We started with checking out the views from Emerald Bay at the south end of the lake. We hiked down to Vikingsholm, which is a great vacation home built in 1929 by a very rich lady who also liked the views from Emerald Bay, took a tour of it and hiked around the area at the water level. We then took a nice bike ride down to a beach area on the east side of the lake and drove the full circuit around the lake. We set aside a day for Danelle to be able to have a full afternoon on the beach soaking up the alpine sun on Pope Beach. We had the beach nearly to ourselves and set up the BSU pavilion to get our weekly dose of vitamin D. We are already looking forward to coming back to the area to do more hiking, biking, boating and skiing.
